2010 is a promising year for Vietnam, with Vietnam’s exports projected to rise in line with the overall economic growth. However, many Vietnamese businesses will still see obstacles to trade, particularly in the fields of anti-dumping and import rules and tariffs. Based on the urgent need of information relating to trade rules and obstacles, EuroCham is holding a workshop “trade obstacles to Vietnamese business associations and Vietnamese enterprises” on 23rd June, 2010 in Hanoi. This event is a part of “Capacity Building on Trade Policy for Vietnamese Business Associations” project which is funded by the European Union in the framework of the EU – Vietnam MUTRAP III project.
What are minimum preparations for exporters to tackle trade obstacles and what are the lessons learnt? The answers will be given by our well-known speakers, including: Mr. Hans Farnhammer, First Secretary The Delegation of the European Union to Vietnam, Prof. Claudio Dordi, TA Team Leader EU - Vietnam MUTRAP III, Mr. Phan The Rue, Former Vice Minister of Commerce Ministry/ Former Head of Vietnam-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement, and Mr. Tran Huu Huynh General Director of Legal Department- VCCI/ Vice Chairman cum General Secretary of Vietnam International Arbitration Center. The presentations will reflect trade obstacles in EU markets, challenges and opportunities for Vietnamese enterprises in implementing Free Trade Agreements. The workshop will be a great opportunity for hands-on experience sharing in export to EU markets and settlement of dispute in international commerce contracts.
On this occasion, we will also inform about the European Trade Information Center in HCMC that will be officially launched at the end of June. The Center is established to meet the needs for information of enterprises in HCMC and surrounding provinces. This center is located in the EuroCentre, the official headquarters of EuroCham, and will provide visitors with a synergy of information and assistance on EU related trade issues. The centre will provide computers and offer access to databases and publications, reports from the CBI, as well as the export helpdesk, Eurostatistic and ECOMVIET.
